Sneak Peak

I couldn't resist posting some pics of Zach in his Halloween costume early! I tried it on him yesterday. Hilarious! He is a turtle which is very ironic because he is anything but slow when he crawls around. Can't wait to see everyone's babies' and kids' Halloween pictures!

It looks like he is posing in this pic.

Crawling around

Look at me!

To get him to stand, I put a talking snowman on top of a bumper in his crib. Whatever works!

Random Fun Pic

My sister Mandy tagged me to post the fourth picture in my fourth album on this computer, so this is it. This picture brings back so many memories! Zach is five days old, and we are celebrating Thanksgiving. He is content in Gigi's lap!

I am tagging Candy, Mandy, Ashley, and Rebekah, so get busy girls!

Life Goes On

I am so thankful it's not this time last week! I am feeling much better. Thank you for all of your prayers! Wow...if you ever have an appendectomy, let me know because I will give you LOTS of sympathy. It really knocked me out for one week. It's killing me that I can't pick up Zach yet, but hopefully soon. I can't stand it!

My MIL is here taking care of us, and I couldn't have done it without my mom and her. And of course, Jason! Bless his heart. This morning Trish drove me downtown so I could vote early. I just LOVE voting. It makes me feel so patriotic and blessed.

I didn't take many pics last week while my mom was here taking care of us (I wonder why!?), but here a few recent pics.

Bumps in the Night

Hard to share this story. What happened last night would not have been funny at all without these three things:

1. Jason was out of town.

2. It was after midnight.

3. I am not supposed to be picking up anything over 20 lbs.

We found out the hard way that one of our fire alarms needed a new battery. It started it's little beeping noise every 20 seconds about 12:30 am. It woke my mom and me up, and we just hoped that it wouldn't bother Zach. My mom had been up with Zach since 5 am yesterday morning, so I knew we had to fix this thing!

Half asleep and delirious, I called Jason and he was actually a big help. The main problem was that the alarm beeping was in the study in the highest part of the room. I'm thinking, "HOW in the heck are we going to get up there?!" I really thought we were just going to be up all night listening to the beep...beep...beep. I just prayed that Jesus would help us!

After Jason explained what to do with the battery, he told me to get the ladder out of the garage. So my mom and I stumbled into the garage. Now I'm wondering how my mom is going to haul this huge painting ladder BY HERSELF through our house all the way to the study to fix the battery. There's just no way.

So I took the lightest part that I could and we both maneuvered the ladder through the house into the study. It was a miracle we did this without breaking anything or waking up Zach. We make it the study only to discover that Jason's desk needed to be moved about one inch for the ladder to fit. Good grief.

We moved the desk, changed the battery, and finally went back to bed at 1:15 am. My back did hurt this morning though. Not good, but what choice did I have!?

Jason is still very impressed by the both of us. It's great!

These pictures do not do us justice. Notice the little circle in the top of the picture!? That's the alarm.

Don't ask me why we have a ladder this tall, but I am SO thankful we do!

Lesson learned!? Always have 9 volt batteries, or better yet change your fire alarm batteries regularly!
Thanks for all of your prayers. I feel them! I am feeling better but am still very sore. I feel like I'm recovering from a C-section without having to take care of a newborn (which is nice!). My mom is spoiling us, and Zach is loving all the attention.

Back to the ER

In the past fourteen months, I have been to the ER THREE times! Crazy! The first time was for food poisoning, the second time was for a ruptured ovarian cyst, and just recently I went to have my appendix taken out. My sister is now joking with me about the ER staff knowing me by name!
Saturday night I went to bed with a stomachache and was sick all night. Sunday morning I told Jason we had to go to the ER (AGAIN!), so one of our sweet neighbors in high school came over to watch Zach until Shannon could get to our house. Bless her heart she didn't know she would be watching him until 10 that night!
When we finally arrived at the ER Sunday morning, I was certain another cyst had ruptured. The cramps on the lower right side felt just like they did before. All the ER rooms were full, and there were three people ahead of me waiting for beds, so we had to wait awhile. I just laid on the floor begging for an IV and pain meds. I didn't care how long I had to wait if I could only have those two things. I felt like I was going to die. Everything and everyone seemed to be moving in slow motion. I had been so fortunate in my earlier ER visits because I was able to be seen right away.
They did start the process of taking my blood and doing other tests so I would be ready for the IV after the doctor approved it. I think two nurses started feeling sorry for me because they both went to ask an ER doc if I could begin the IV and pain meds. Heaven!!
About 9 pm after the tests, a CT scan, and meeting with an ER doc and surgeon, the results revealed that my appendix was perforated (partially ruptured). Jason went home to relieve Shannon and be with Zach, I was prepped for surgery, and my Mom made plans to come back up early Monday (yesterday) morning.
I came home last night and am resting, letting my mom do everything, and watching Zach play on the floor. Thank you for all of your prayers, calls, and emails. I feel SO incredibly loved and blessed.
I'm also really trying hard to find out what GOD is trying to teach me, and I hope I learn soon!

Fall Birthday

I love Fall! Not only is my birthday in October, but I love the cool weather, changing leaves, and making yummy comfort foods. I used to love going to the fair, and now I love shopping at the local craft fairs. The only thing I don't like about the fall is the time change. No fun! I like long days with light!

Jason gave me these flowers for my birthday. Beautiful!

Elizabeth, Marian, Trish (my mother-in-law), Shannon, Claudia, Afton (my mom), and me

We are ready for War Eagle! Every fall there are alot of craft fairs in the area. So fun!

Me, my mom, and Claud

A visit from my parents is not complete without eating at Backwoods Barn. I can't believe how many times I have been there, and I don't even like catfish!

My Dad and I ran in a local 10K race this morning. I am so sore! I haven't run this long of a distance since Zach was born, so it was a good goal for me. My Dad won second place in his age group. Woohoo!

Off to the pumpkin patch! Zach liked all the pumpkins but did not give us any big smiles because he was too busy looking at other kids.

Zach was so cute riding around in this little red wagon. He looked so big!

Fast Friends

Yesterday afternoon our sweet friends Kyle, Candy, and their six month old Kohen dropped by on their way out of town. The boys were SO much fun to watch!

Zach has not been interested in his exersaucer for months, but when Kohen was playing in it, he wanted to be right there.

Kohen just wiggled and rolled on the floor while Zach crawled around.

I hope Zach and Kohen will be good friends like Kyle and Jason. What cuties!

Ten Years!

Jason and I went to our ten year high school reunion this weekend. It was wonderful! Since we are high school sweethearts we knew everyone which made it even more fun
Friday night we went out to eat with Laura, Brad, Hillary, and Josh.

Laura, Hil, and me

Brad, Laura, me, and Jason

Saturday we went to a local park and had a picnic. The weather could not have been better, praise the LORD!

Barry, Josh, Jason, and Jason (They are all daddies!)

Zach & Benjamin

Zach, me, Sarah, and her youngest Emma. I love her curly hair! Sarah was married two weeks before me, and she has three beautiful children. I guess I'm a little behind, but that's OK!

Zach has missed Hillary! He crawled right up into her lap.

Jenny & Benjamin

Saturday night we had dinner downtown. Isn't Jason handsome!?

Mandy, Cari, Leslie, Morgan, me, and Candy

These girls all married guys that we graduated with and are also some of Jason's closest friends. They are precious!

Sarah, me, Hil, Jenny, Suzanne, & Laura

These girls are my best friends from high school. I grew up with Jenny and Suzanne, met Laura in junior high, and met Sarah and Hil in high school. Words can't come close to explaining how I feel about them. They are my prayer warriors, silly as can be, and loyal. I am honored to be in each of their lives.

Candy, Kyle, Jason, and me

This centerpiece has been through a car ride with Zach constantly throwing toys on it, so this picture does not do it justice. Jason won it last night during a raffle. Sarah put all the table centerpieces together for our dinner Saturday night. I was so impressed! So creative!

It's hard to believe that we have been out of high school for ten years! Time flies by. I love that Jason and I share so many of the same friends and memories. I was blessed this weekend to see what people have overcome and how GOD has been working in our friends lives over the years. He is good!

Fam Night is Back!

I have missed our regular fam nights! We haven't been consistent since this summer, so I am really looking forward to getting back into a weekly routine of craziness and of course, food!

So it's not my birthday...yet! It's next week, but who says we can't start celebrating early!? Thanks, Shannon, for the yummy cupcakes!

Zach is thinking the "Happy Birthday" song is a bit off key.

Shannon, me, & Elizabeth

Andy, Jason, and Cody entertaining us. Our comic relief! Joe must have been taking a break. Have they missed their calling or what!?

Meet Tosh, our newest little family member. She is Joe and Elizabeth's
8 week old puppy. Isn't she precious!? Zach and Tosh were hilarious to watch "play" together. We are in the process of teaching Zach to be gentle (yeah, right!), and surprisingly he did pretty well!

Simple Entertainment

Zach played in this box for 20 minutes this morning. I just pushed him around the house from room to room. This is a big deal for a boy who never sits still!

I guess it's true what people say about boys being less expensive than girls! Ha!

Family Fun

My mom, my sister Mandy, and my niece Abby came up to play with Zach and me for a few days. The cousins have had SO much fun together! I love that Zach and Abby are two months apart. The differences between them are very obvious...not only physically but their personalities as well. Zach is rough and tough, and Abby is girly and loves her dolls.

She did try to push Zach on his truck. What a helper!

Their first "fight" over a toy

Abby is not so sure about this...Zach is a wild man in the bathtub!

Do I HAVE to get out yet!?

Face-off at the truck

Do we HAVE to go shopping!?

Are we having fun yet!? Abby and Zach have been so wonderful the past few days. They love to interact with each other.

Too cute

It's not always easy to get my little man to look at the camera.

He is actually still for a second! My mom (Bunny) bought Zach this little snowman. It is a big hit!

My dad and Bo met up with us Friday so we could all go to the football game together. Bo is my long tall Texan brother-in-law.

Tail gating

Ready for the game!

I have loved every second of having my family around. My brother Faber and sister-in-law Meredith and their kiddos Allie, Mary Afton, and Garrett were not able to come, and we missed them SO much! They were getting over bad coughs and didn't want to spread anything around. I know it was for the best, but it just wasn't the same without them here with us. We love and miss you guys!
